Hello, everyone!
Chapter 1: The Hungry Caterpillar (in My Salad): This week, we ate lunch at the same member's house twice in a row because the person who was supposed to give us lunch on the second day forgot. She felt really bad about it. But on the second day, while I was eating some salad, I looked down to see a cute little green caterpillar just chilling there on one of my pieces of lettuce. I lightly poked it with my fork to see if it was still alive, and it wiggled a little bit. One of the members had just gone out and purchased the lettuce for us. He apologized, and his wife talked about how we need to be careful. I just thought it was funny, and ate more salad.
Chapter 2: English Connect (Part 2): On Wednesday, we taught our weekly English class. It went really well! I'm happy to see all the excited and curious hearts of all the people who truly want to learn. While they were practicing with each other at one point of the class, I walked over to the piano and lightly played "Bohemian Rhapsody" for a second. A couple members called me over after I did this and said they watched the movie "Bohemian Rhapsody" just the day before in English with Portuguese subtitles. They also said they've been listening to Queen (I recommended it last week).
Chapter 3: Tommy jr and Timmy jr: This week, we found a dead baby bird in our front yard area under the tree, so I buried him and we named him Tommy Jr. I made him a little gravestone, too, and played "Amazing Grace" on my French horn mouthpiece. A couple days later, we found another bird. I buried him and named him Timmy jr.
Chapter 4: Drunk Driver: This week, while we were making a long walk, someone in their car called out to us and offered us a ride. My companion just got right in (I've been trying to teach him to be more careful) and of course I had to follow him. Everything was okay, and we made it to our destination okay, but while we were in the car, I couldn't help but notice the beer can in his cup holder. The driver noticed me eyeing the drink and was like, "Haha no worries! I am drunk!" and I was like, "Haha okay! *thumbs up*" I thought he said he wasn't drunk, but afterwards my companion said he said he was drunk. He was also using a phone a few times during the drive. My companion was like, "Relax. It's more normal in Brazil." I was like, "It doesn't mean it's okay!" I honestly don´t like when he tells me to relax. #IJustDon'tWannaDie. There has been more than one occasion when he tells me to relax when I'm just trying to keep us safe. But you know.
Chapter 5: Drunk guy: One night while we were walking back to our house, a drunk guy started walking with us. I've seen this guy before, and every time I see him, he is very drunk. He was super loopy and every once in a while he would cry and say, "I want to change my life!" So, we gave him a word of wisdom pamphlet that also had our phone number on it and told him that if he reads it, it can change his life. After we said bye to him, we walked in a different direction from our house (which was right across the street) because we didn't want him to know where we live, and while we were walking, he rode past us on his bike more than once and said in English, "GET OUT MY HOME" and then would laugh. Eventually he turned a corner and didn't come back again, and we went home.
Chapter 6: Faith: This week, while I was doing personal study, I was reading in Ether chapter 12, which talks a lot about faith:
6: And now, I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith.
18: And neither at any time hath any wrought miracles until after their faith; wherefore they first believed in the Son of God.
27: And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.
I know that if we have faith, we can do anything! Heavenly Father loves us and will help us if we have faith! If you don´t have a lot of faith right now, work with the faith you do have. I love the parable of the mustard seed. If you plant that tiny, tiny seed and take care of it, it will grow into something grand!
